Your words, kept in confidence.

Emberkeep exists to carry deeply personal words safely across time. Privacy is not a feature we bolt on; it is the foundation the entire service is built upon. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Account details you provide, such as your name and email, so we can reach you and secure your vault.

The messages you create (written, voice, and, in future, video), along with the recipients and stewards you assign to them.

Basic technical information needed to keep the service running and secure, such as device and log data.

Your words are encrypted in transit and at rest. Message text and voice recordings are encrypted before they are stored, and decrypted only to show them to you and, when the moment you defined has truly arrived, to the people you chose.

To confirm a passing, we process limited information from the stewards you name and, where available, objective records used for corroboration. When the time comes, recipients receive only the messages addressed to them, delivered gently and paced with care.

To operate the service: storing your messages, running safeguards and check-ins, and delivering your words at the right moment.

To keep everyone safe: our crisis safety net always routes a person in distress to help before any commercial partner.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your words may need to wait decades, and we intend to be here for them. We never quietly delete your messages: should a payment ever lapse, a long grace period and repeated reminders always come first.

A small set of vetted infrastructure providers process data on our behalf, each under contractual security commitments and used only for a single, narrow role: application hosting, an encrypted database, private media storage, privacy-friendly usage analytics, our company email, transactional email delivery (verification links, password resets, notifications), and text message delivery for account and safety notifications. None of these providers may read, use, or share your content for their own purposes, and none receive more than their role requires.

We keep the specific vendor list private as a security measure. If you have a genuine need to know, such as a legal or compliance review, contact hello@emberkeep.io and we will walk you through it directly.

You can access, correct, or update your information, and change your stewards, contacts, or messages at any time from your dashboard.

You can delete your account yourself, immediately, from Settings. Deletion is permanent and erases your messages, recordings, life story, contacts, and stewards, including media files in storage.

If you provide a mobile number, we send only account and safety notification texts: steward invitations, security alerts, and delivery notifications. Message frequency varies with your account activity and is typically only a few messages in total. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help.

We never share or sell mobile numbers, and no mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or by a clear notice in the app before the change takes effect.
